Strengthening BIM Management in the 2026.3 Release

May 7 / Anders Laursen
Effective BIM management depends on clarity, consistency, and control across increasingly complex models.

As part of the 2026.3 release, the latest updates to model validation provide BIM Managers with stronger tools to identify issues earlier, communicate them more clearly, and track progress over time—ultimately improving coordination and reducing project risk.

New features in Model Validation.

Clearer Insights with 2D Split View and Level-Based Validation

Model validation is now more intuitive and context-driven. BIM Managers can group validation results by building level and review clashes in a 2D split view alongside the 3D model.

This brings several key benefits:

• Faster issue identification by focusing on a specific level
• Improved communication with stakeholders who rely on 2D drawings
• Better spatial understanding through simultaneous 2D and 3D clash visualization

Validation can be initiated directly from the split view, automatically filtering by the selected level, or from the 3D model with results grouped afterward. This flexibility supports different workflows while maintaining precision.

Additionally, clashes are now displayed both in 3D and as overlays on 2D drawings, ensuring that issues are easy to interpret and act on—regardless of user preference or discipline.

Standardization with Company-Wide Validation Templates

Model validation templates are now available at the company profile level. This allows BIM Managers to:

• Define standardized validation rules

• Ensure consistency across projects

• Reduce setup time and human error

This is particularly valuable in organizations managing multiple projects or collaborating across teams.

More Accurate Clash Detection

The clash matrix has been improved by removing duplicate intersections. Previously, clashes between disciplines could appear twice (A vs. B and B vs. A). Now:

• Each discipline pair is shown only once
• Results are cleaner and easier to interpret
• Coordination efforts become more efficient

This enhancement reduces noise in the data and helps teams focus on resolving real issues.

Enhanced Model Comparison in 2D

Model comparison is now integrated directly into floor plan drawings within the Design tab. BIM Managers can:

• View changes in context on 2D drawings
• Apply filters directly on plans
• Better understand design evolution across versions

This strengthens the Compare feature and improves the usability of automatically generated level drawings.

Outcome for BIM Managers

As part of the 2026.3 release, these updates collectively support a more proactive and structured BIM workflow.

By combining visual clarity, standardized processes, and data-driven insights, BIM Managers can:

  • Detect and resolve clashes earlier
  • Communicate issues more effectively across disciplines
  • Maintain higher model quality throughout the project lifecycle
  • Reduce coordination time and rework

The result is not just better models—but more efficient project delivery and stronger collaboration across the entire construction process.
